Most people take the concept that they will be victim of crime a long-shot at best until they have a friend, acquaintance or family member become a victim of crime. People see crime as the far off place where only the poor live and that it could never happen to them in their safe middle-class suburban society. Personal protection should be as mainstay in our lives as much is car insurance or health insurance. We may not like it, but should be aware that someday we may need it. When looking at defending yourself, there are many options available, but in most cases, non-lethal options are at the top of the list. Self defense products such as pepper spray, stun guns, and personal alarms are better for most people because these items can't be lethally used against them as victims. Going out and buying a gun is not right for most people. Our society makes it almost impossible to defend yourself against a potential lawsuit when a firearm is used against anyone. Many gun owners think that by carrying a gun, they can use it under most circumstances to defend themselves because they can claim that their life was threatened. As most law enforcement officials will advise, this defense only really works inside our own homes. By carrying a loaded weapon in our cars or on our person, we have very few rights to use that weapon because of its lethal nature. Pepper spray is the least expensive and most available product for the average consumer. Most are sold in small spray containers and are ideal for up close and personal defense. Beyond ten feet, these sprays are mostly ineffective due to environmental issues such as wind or rain that can interfere with the spray. This is where Pepper Spray Guns come in. There are only a few companies that manufacture pepper spray guns and each product offers different benefits. Companies like Kimber and Mace are the primary companies that offer pepper spray guns to the consumer. These offer the consumer better protection from a longer distance than standard pepper spray. The Mace product shoots a liquid pepper spray up to 25 feet giving you a good head-start against a potential threat. Kimber offers three different products that were originally designed for law enforcement and offer varying degrees of protection. The Kimber Pepperblaster II and the Kimber Guardian Angel are two highly recognized pepper spray guns due to their ability to fire their load at an astounding 90 miles per hour. Both weapons use a police grade pepper-gel fired with a specialized jet delivery system making it almost impossible to escape from and disabling the offender almost immediately giving you time to escape and get help. This product gives you two separate shots if needed firing up to 13 feet to disable multiple targets. Both products are very compact in size that will fit easily into a pocket or purse. Having products that fire like a gun, but without the lethal results, will fit most consumers needs. Don't take your safety for granted. You never know who has bad intentions and how far they will go to harm you or your family. Take some time to review these products and remember that it is better to be safe then sorry.
